At Baptist Bible College, intensive study of the Word allows each student to pursue scientific studies from a godly perspective. Our Science Education program will help you comprehensively learn the sciences in well-designed laboratory and classroom studies that recognize the Creator. In order to hone your teaching skills, we explore effective teaching methods from both biblical and modern research perspectives. Our students regularly interact with many of the best science teachers in Pennsylvania. As a science teacher, you will be in a unique position to influence the lives of students as you shape their perception of the physical world around them. That's why it is essential that you gain an education in both science and the Bible. Our Science Education program will equip you with an understanding of how people learn.You'll walk away prepared to integrate spiritual goals with necessary learning standards as you plan learning activities, and able to naturally employ teaching skills that will help your students accomplish learning goals. Our faculty is committed to your academic and spiritual development, and will provide you with the education you need to effectively minister in the classroom. Core courses We give you a strong foundation to understand and apply biblical truth through 42 hours of Bible and theology courses. General Studies courses will offer you the opportunity to consider the world in which you will minister from a Biblical perspective. Science courses will allow you to study Creation using a scientific methodology and maintaining a commitment to Biblical truth. The core courses of this program include the following: Astronomy Biology Biotechnology Chemistry I and II College Math II Ecology Genetics Geology Human Anatomy and Physiology Meteorology Organic Chemistry / Biochemistry Physics I and II Making the program your own You'll receive top-level instruction and also gain important practical experience by first observing in public and Christian classrooms, then progessing to more interactive classroom activities. Your senior year culminates with two periods of student teaching, one in a public school and one in a Christian school. We select qualified secondary science teachers to mentor you through this internship. A college supervisor will also visit, observe, counsel, and evaluate you. Many options after graduation You will graduate from our program with two separate certifications. Certification from the PA Department of Education qualifies you to teach science in any secondary school in Pennsylvania and may be transferred to many other states. Certification from the Association of Christian Schools International speaks to the Biblical, scientific, pedagogical, and philosophical standards that are critical to ministering well in a Christian school. In addition, your diploma will indicate that you have earned a B.S. in Bible. Many graduates go further with master's and doctorate degrees . Some have chosen to pursue their studies in one of the seven programs offered in Christian School Education at Baptist Bible Graduate School. Other graduates have attended various graduate schools to study a wide range of programs including curriculum and instruction, counseling, and administration.
