Mathematics Master from Boston College - Chestnut Hill MA details

Program Format: Campus Program Level: Master

Mathematics from Boston College - Chestnut Hill MA is a Campus Master Mathematics degree that prepares you for a Education career. The Department offers a combined B.A./M.A. program, leading to the bachelor's degree after four years, and the master's degree after completion of a fifth year. In short, this program allows the student to complete a master's degree in just one year, rather than the usual two years. To make this combined program possible, two courses may be "double-counted" towards both the undergraduate and graduate requirements, reducing the overall master's degree requirement from 11 to 9 courses. If a student completes five courses in each semester of his or her senior year, the fifth-year requirements would reduce to 7 courses; and this number would be further reduced by any undergraduate overloads or summer courses taken prior to the fifth year. Applications to the combined program should be made during the Spring semester of junior year, and careful planning of undergraduate courses is essential to completion of the program. In particular, those accepted to the program will ideally complete at least one, if not both, of the MT804-MT805 Analysis and MT816-MT817 Algebra courses during the senior year.
