Doctor's degree Biophysics from Boston University is a Campus Ph.D Biomedical degree that prepares you for a Science career. The Graduate Programs within the new department stems from a common first year curriculum and develops into parrallel and overlapping paths. A small group of core courses taken in the first year are required for both the physiology and biophysics programs and will lead to a level of understanding of the two disciplines necessary to allow students to make choices in their program paths. In this approach, all students have flexibility to choose the appropriate course work for their degree . The courses for first year students are chosen with the guidance of members of the duly constituted Student Admissions and Affairs Committee (SAC), and in the second year with imput from their masters or Ph.D advisor. Students who successfully complete the program are awarded either a Masters or Ph.D in Physiology or Biophysics . The program consists of two stages. In Stage I, the student completes at least four graduate-level courses in the physical sciences. A graduate degree at the master's level or higher in physics, chemical physics, biophysics , or the equivalent can satisfy the Stage I requirements. In Stage II, the student receives comprehensive training and conducts research in the area of cellular physiology and biophysics . Students work under the supervision of the core cellular biophysics faculty or other members of the faculty of either the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences or the School of Medicine whose research programs fit the broad outline of the Cellular Biophysics program and whose supervision of dissertation research by students enrolled in the program is approved by the Cellular Biophysics Program Committee.
