The student will demonstrate knowledge of the philosophical, historical, and legal foundations of special education , rehabilitation, and disability services: * Demonstrate knowledge of the characteristics of persons with disabilities; * Demonstrate knowledge and application skills in the assessment, diagnosis, and evaluation of persons with disabilities; * Demonstrate knowledge and application skills in communication and collaboration in the delivery of services to persons with disabilities; * Demonstrate knowledge and application skills in professionalism and ethical practice in the delivery of services to persons with disabilities; * Attain employment in the field of developmental disability and habilitation; * Demonstrate knowledge and application skills in providing case management and habilitative services to individuals with disabilities; * Demonstrate knowledge and application skills in applying the Americans with Disabilities Act to providing counseling, case management, vocational assessment, and advocacy to individuals with disabilities; * Demonstrate knowledge and application skills in vocational assessment and career development counseling for individuals with disabilities; * Demonstrate knowledge and application skills related to the medical aspects of disabilities. * Demonstrate a knowledge of private and public agencies and facilities that provide assessment and rehabilitative services to individuals with disabilities; * Demonstrate a knowledge of scope of practice in schools, public and private agencies, and facilities that provide assessment and counseling services to mental health seeking individuals .
