Medical Clinical Laboratory Technician applied technology diploma is available to any student who has an A.A. or A.S. degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution and to foreign students who are eligible to sit for a national certification exam, based on a review of their foreign credits. Upon completion of the program, the student will receive an ATD and be eligible to take the examination for national certification and is eligible for state license as required by the Florida Clinical Laboratory Law. When students apply for national examination, they must submit a transcript showing that they have earned an A.A. or A.S. degree or higher and a BCC transcript showing that they have an ATD in Medical Laboratory Technology. A student must also have 8 hours of biology and 8 hours of chemistry at a level that will transfer to an upper division university to be granted a state license at the technologist level.
