Christian Secondary Education from Calvary Bible College and Theological Seminary is a Campus Bachelor Religious Studies degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. Objectives * That the student be able to articulate the Christian philosophy of education . * That the student be able to teach the Word of God for application and response to secondary students. * That the student be able to integrate God's truth with the truth of his subject matter. * That the student be able to conduct a secondary class using a variety of methods which actively involve his students in the learning process. * That the student be able to apply biblical principles of discipline which produce obedient, kind, and respectful students. Special Requirements Secondary Education students must have an ACT score of 20 or SAT equivalent to enter the department. Freshman students who begin college with less than a 20 ACT will have one year to achieve this requirement. All sections of the College Basic Academic Subjects Examination (CBASE) must be passed prior to gaining admittance into 300- and 400-level education courses. A grade of "C" or above is required in every professional education, math, psychology, English, and speech course. Students are to apply for admission to the Secondary Education Department in the sophomore year with admission to occur before the beginning of the junior year. In order to be admitted, the student: * must pass each subject area of the CBASE. * must meet departmental standards as described above. * must have the recommendation of the Secondary Education Department faculty. Secondary Education students must create a professional portfolio as part of graduation requirements. Prior to Student Teaching, students must pass the Praxis II: Social Studies. In order to enroll in Student Teaching, a student must have fulfilled the following: (1) application approval by the Education Department faculty; (2) completion of all course work in the major; (3) GPA of 2.75 on all course requirements in the major; (4) senior status; (5) completion of FBI background check; and (6) agreement to forego employment while student teaching.
