Students are trained to work in a wide range of telecommunications and computer networking jobs on both the technical and the design sides. The main objective of the program is to produce technologists who support industry in areas ranging from data communications and networking to routers and switches to network modeling and design. TET majors study digital electronics, noise and shielding, fiber-optic communications, microprocessors and micro assembly, and may specialize in either data communications and networking or RF and satellite communications. All bachelor of science students complete a capstone course in which they propose, design, build, test and deliver a working telecommunications project. The BS degree program is designed to build on the AAS program with more advanced studies in simulation, analysis and modeling of communications circuits and networks. Courses in optical communications, data communications and networking and Internet networks provide students with the necessary background to do network design and administration work and to pursue continued studies in engineering, engineering technology or information technology .
