It combines on-the-job training and classroom coursework. COCC offers classroom coursework to apprentices in the following trades: boiler/turbine operator, industrial maintenance millwright, manufacturing plant electrician, limited maintenance electrician, and sheet metal. This training supplements the on-the-job training that apprentices receive from their employer and is required for apprentices to become journey persons in their trade. Generally that involves taking one class in the evening two or three terms during the school year. Registered apprentice training is offered in accordance with Oregon Law and Plan of Apprenticeship and Training, U.S. Department of Labor and Oregon State Apprenticeship Council.
