Industrial Technology Hardwood Lumber Inspector from Clarion University of Pennsylvania is a Campus Associate Engineering General degree that prepares you for a Engineering career. Clarion University is the only university in the country to offer college credit for the National Hardwood Lumber Association Training School program, awarding credits toward an associate degree through the university's Department of Applied Technology. Students who wish to earn Clarion University's Associate of Applied Science in Industrial Technology degree will be able to transfer as many as 22 credits toward the 60 credits required for the associate degree by successfully completing the NHLA Lumber Inspection Training School curriculum. The balance of the coursework consists of general education and business courses that can be completed at Clarion University-Venango Campus in Oil City, Pennsylvania, and/or online. The Inspection School segment for this degree concentration is a 14-week program that teaches National Hardwood Lumber Association Grading Rules and provides students hands-on practical experience. The Inspection school curriculum provides students with the technical knowledge of Grading Rules and the practical skills and experience necessary to become a lumber inspector . Classes meet from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and students are provided with a combination of classroom instruction and extensive hands-on experience. Instructors are skilled inspectors with over 50 years experience in the hardwood lumber industry. Class size is limited to 20 students to assure quality personal attention for each student. Classes generally begin the first day of January, May, and September. Upon successful completion of Lumber Inspection School, students receive a diploma in a formal graduation ceremony. The Associate of Applied Science in Applied Technology degree will be awarded upon completion of all other general and business education requirements.
