Your drawings will provide visual guidelines, show the technical details of products and structures, and specify dimensions, materials, and procedures. You become proficient with CAD drafting and design software. During the course of study, you learn free-hand sketching, orthographic representation, auxiliary views, revolutions, three- dimensional modeling and layout, detail dimensioning, allowances and fits, sectional views, fasteners, engineering materials, welding drawings, assembly and detail drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerances, sheet metal design, manufacturing processes, and power transitions systems. After completing your degree in drafting technology, you will work as an aeronautical, architectural, civil, or mechanical engineering drafter or designer. Graduates have been hired as detailers, drafters, senior drafters, or designers. If you like to take engineering problems and solve them graphically, you will enjoy this program. This program uses a combination of lecture and lab classes. The drafting tasks help you apply theory to practical situations.
