Welding Technology from Eastern Maine Community College is a Campus Associate Engineering General degree that prepares you for a Engineering career. Welding Technology offers students a modular based curriculum in a two year format including technical courses in basic welding , advanced welding, and/or pipe fabrication. The First year offers training in basic welding techniques utilizing the shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) process. Second year students have a choice of taking Advanced Welding or Pipe Fabrication. Advanced Welding provides students with opportunities to gain technical knowledge and skills in gas metal arc welding (GMAW) plate and pipe on mild steel and aluminum; and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) plate and pipe on mile steel, stainless, and aluminum in accordance with the welding codes. Graduates of the two-year Welding programs enjoy expanded employment opportunities in shipbuilding, fabrication, construction, and the maintenance industry, plus quality assurance and quality control, welding inspection, and mid-management positions in a number of metal trades industries.
