Workers may need the ability to work under close supervision and, as needed, to work independently in a variety of job tasks on the construction project. Construction trade programs are designed to prepare people to build, maintain, and repair buildings using materials such as metal, wood, stone, brick, glass, concrete, and composition substances. Construction work is physically strenuous. It often requires frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, stretching and heavy lifting in excess of 25 pounds. Much of the work is performed outdoors. It is helpful that workers in building construction possess good physical stamina, eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity and a good sense of balance.
