Declaring of Major Prior to declaring the major, a student is classified as a "pre-engineering" student. To be eligible to declare the Civil Engineering major, the student must complete at least 7 of the "key courses" and receive a minimum of "C-" in each course, and must have at least a 2.0 GPA, both in the key courses and overall.
