Program Students who complete the Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a major in athletic training are prepared to sit for the Board of Certification exam. The three-year athletic training program stresses clinical experience in addition to course work. During the sophomore year, students work in a variety of athletic training rooms two to three times a week. As juniors, students rotate through the athletic training room, working with five different sports, and attending all home games and practices. During the senior year, each student is assigned to a single sport and is present for all practices and games, both home and away. This progression exposes students to a variety of different philosophies and techniques as they work side-by-side with the university's talented and experienced professional athletic training staff to provide optimal care for the athletes who participate in the 24 Indiana University men's and women's intercollegiate sports. Career Opportunities Graduates who hold the Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a major in athletic training are usually employed by sports medicine clinics (including those with outreach programs to local colleges and secondary schools), secondary schools (in full-time athletic trainer positions or in combination teacher/trainer positions), colleges or universities, professional sports teams, or in the industrial setting.
