Additional subjects include electrical wiring, basic electronics, motor controls, refrigeration , air conditioning, computer applications and industrial hydraulics. Second-year students focus on commercial climate controls, advanced heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Additional subjects include industrial electronic devices such as programmable logic controllers and industrial motor drives. While in the program, students may qualify for an internship with a leading manufacturer in the Cedar Rapids area. Graduates of this program can go on to complete a four-year degree at UNI, or qualify for advanced placement in the apprenticeship program of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
