Required steps within the FE student selection process: Step 1: Program Orientation - Prospective students must attend a FE scheduled program orientation session held at Lakeland. Step 2: Technical Evaluation - Prospective line students are evaluated on a series of hands-on activities that are performed at a FE job site. Step 3: Placement Testing - Prior to registering for classes at Lakeland, prospective students must take reading, math, and writing placement tests. Step 4: Background Check - Prospective students must successfully pass a FE background check. Step 5: Physical Capabilities Assessment - Prospective students are given a strength and endurance test at FE to ensure capability for this line of work. Step 6: D.O.T. Physical - Prospective students must provide a completed Medical Examiners Certificate. Step 7: Climbing Course - Prospective students learn the basics of climbing wood poles or steel structures and qualify out of fall arrest at FE.
