Radiography from Lincoln Land Community College is a Campus Associate Radiology degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. Program Information: This program prepares students for an occupation in the professional field of medical radiography (X-ray technology). The first semester of this program begins in June. Career cluster includes registered radiographer in hospital, clinic or imaging center; registered nuclear medicine technologist; registered radiation therapist; registered diagnostic medical sonographer; clinical or didactic instructor; clinical supervisor and department administrator. This applied science program of study must be taken in its entirety to meet degree requirements. Students are involved in more than 1,500 contact hours of clinical experience during the two year program. National certification as a radiographer requires graduates to pass the examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. In addition, many states, including Illinois, require graduates to hold a license to practice medical radiography. All HLT courses must be completed prior to beginning second-year studies. Radiography students must earn a grade of C or higher in all courses with a prefix of RAD or HLT. Students who earn below a C in any of these courses will be immediately dropped from the program. Students have the right to apply for readmission to the program based on program admissions committee action and space availability. In the case of readmission, credit will be allowed for courses previously completed with a grade of C or higher. Only one readmission is allowed.
