Through the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Dance Education program, students are first trained as ?artists? and then as educators?the principle being that learning how to bring out the best in oneself is important preparation for helping others discover their own potential. The New Jersey teaching certification P-12 ,which is earned in conjunction with the BA in Dance Education program, is the most respected credential for teaching pre-kindergarten through grade 12 in the public schools. In addition, graduates might expect to find work in private settings including elementary, middle and high schools, as well as community centers, after-school programs, YMCA?s, dance studios, and recreation facilities among others. Curriculum Intended Dance Education majors take essentially the same courses as the BFA students during the first two years of the program. At the end of the sophomore year, students interested in the BA Dance Education major formally apply for the program.
