The General Specialization provides a well-rounded education in agronomy. It encompasses the basics in horticulture, field crop production, and soils, allowing the student great flexibility to pursue any mix of the several specialties within the department. It also allows the stuent to explore fields of knowledge outside the department. What facilities are at SIU? Several facilities are available for students to obtain hands-on experience, including the SIUC Horticulture Research Center. Internships with various crop and green industries are encouraged to broaden learning experiences and are available through our partnerships with various companies and government agencies.
