In the Neurosciences, these include the basis of learning and memory, the molecular and cellular basis of intracellular and intercellular communication, how genes control development and behavior, how neuronal networks give rise to perception and consciousness, and the etiology and treatment of disorders such as epilepsy, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer's disease. Every student is trained in the fundamentals of neuroscience and allied fields of biological sciences.
