Medieval Studies from Stanford University is a Campus Bachelor Medieval and Renaissance Studies degree that prepares you for a Science career. The Medieval Studies Major combines interdisciplinary breadth with a disciplinary focus. The interdisciplinary emphasis is provided by an introductory course to Medieval culture, by two upper-level interdisciplinary colloquia, and by the requirement that students take courses in three of the following areas: Literature; History; Art History, Drama, Music; or, Humanities, Philosophy, Religious Studies . Depth is ensured by the requirement that students take at least FOUR courses in one of the above areas. A faculty adviser helps each student choose courses that integrate the requirements of breadth and depth. In addition to 10 courses required for the major, a language proficiency equal to two years of college-level study is suggested in Latin or one of the following: French, German, Italian, or Spanish.
