Computer Graphics and Visual Communication Simulation and Digital Entertainment from The Community College of Baltimore County is a Campus Associate Information Technology degree that prepares you for a IT career. The Computer Graphics and Visual Communication (CGVC) program prepares students for careers or transfer to four-year degree programs in graphic design, animation, motion graphics, photography, digital imaging, game design, and interactive media. This program, which incorporates a common core of six studio and digitally based courses, offers an A.A.S. degree with six different options for study. This program offers a variety of specialized courses that may not match every transfer pattern. The Simulation and Digital Entertainment (SDE) option provides students with the skills to design and develop computer games for advertising, educational training, and interactive simulations. The SDE option can serve as the first two years of the Simulation and Digital Entertainment Bachelor of Technical or Professional Studies at the University of Baltimore. Requirements for other four-year institutions may vary. Upon successful completion of this degree, students will be able to: 1. use current industry standard video game and simulation development to prepare cross-platform video games that incorporate text, graphics, animation, video, and sound; 2. create industry-standard design documents for the planning and implementation of video games and simulations; 3. write well-formed programs in a structured programming style; 4. work as a member of a team to successfully produce a video game or simulation; 5. apply ethical practices concerning topics such as copyright, usability, and accessibility to the development of video games and simulations; and 6. apply critical analysis to existing video games as well as video games that the students create.
