Towson's Graphic Design program offers a comprehensive study in traditional print design and web/interactive design. Graphic Design courses develop skills in conceptual and critical thinking, typography, design theory, and design technologies. Students learn to design clear and effective communication, as well as explore individual interests and aesthetic options. Graphic Design curriculum, with the addition of Digital and Interactive Design in the upper level courses, allows graduating students to enter the workplace immediately, or to apply to graduate school. All students develop a professional portfolio in their senior year. Two levels of required foundations courses establish a fundamental understanding of spatial relationships, color, balance, compositional tension, image making, computer skills, motion and rhythm. The Graphic Design program is equipped with four computer labs, housing state-of-the-art computers and software for graphic design and digital art. A print center is located conveniently near labs for color or black and white prints. It includes a large format and transparency options. Working studios are connected to computer labs.
