NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER OPTION This 18-credit hour certificate prepares students to work as paraprofessional Spanish interpreters whose goal is to facilitate oral communication between individuals in various community settings such as hospitals, community service agencies, etc. Courses will be taught within an appropriate cultural context and may include relevant community service projects. Several of the courses in this program are part of the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement and can be used to help satisfy graduation requirements for AA and AS degree programs. All required courses are 3-credit hours. All prerequisites must be met and the student must have at least a 2.0 overall grade point average in order to receive this certificate. This is the track for native English speakers. A prerequisite of this certificate program is showing proficiency at the Intermediate Spanish II level as determined by testing or successful completion of SPA 212.
