Topics include: management theories, including total quality management; motivation, supervision and evaluation of employees; recruiting, screening and selection of employees; and functions of management. This course also provides an overview of the activities that are involved in planning, establishing and managing a small business enterprise. Topics include: planning, analyzing locations, financing and developing a business plan. Also included is an introduction to the application and reinforcement of entrepreneurship and employability principles in an actual job placement or practicum experience. Participants are acquainted with occupational responsibilities through realistic work situations and are provided with insights into entrepreneurship application on the job. Topics include: problem solving, adaptability to the job setting, use of proper interpersonal skills, application of entrepreneurship techniques and professional development. This occupational-based instruction is implemented through the use of a written individualized training plan, a written performance evaluation, a required weekly seminars and a required practicum or on-the-job training.
