Radiologic Technology from Alegent Health School of Radiologic Technology is a Campus Associate Radiology degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. General Information The Alegent Health School of Radiologic Technology offers a 23-month program of academic study and clinical education in the radiology department. The program begins each year in late August. Courses consist of lectures, demonstrations and supervised clinical experience. When not in class, students perform various radiologic procedures with staff technologists. Students participate in all activities according to a scheduled rotation through appropriate areas within the radiology department. Upon completion of the program, students are awarded an Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology degree and are eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) examination. After successfully completing the ARRT exam, graduates become registered technologists and are entitled to use the initials R.T. (R) after their names. Program Mission In keeping with Alegent Health’s mission of community service based on Christian values and commitments, the School of Radiologic Technology is designed to manifest in the student the necessary qualities to become a compassionate, responsible healthcare team member. Our program strives to integrate and correlate theory with clinical education. The student will progress from directly supervised performance of duties to indirectly supervised performance. This guidance will promote self-confidence, teamwork and resourcefulness that are essential for becoming a professional, proficient technologist in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective skills for the care of the mind, body, and spirit of each person served. The school is committed to upgrading and implementing new educational methods and tools to meet the ever-changing needs of the profession. Our program encourages the participation of students in organizations and activities for continued education and growth as health professionals. Program Goals 1. Graduate competent and compassionate entry-level radiographers . 2. Provide an education that promotes communication skills, problem-solving, and professional ethics. 3. Graduate radiographers that meet the needs of the health care community. 4. Encourage activities for continued education and growth as health care professionals. The above goals will be measured by attainment of academic standards in all course assignments and testing, clinical performance and competency evaluations, CPR training, laboratory experiments, film critique assignments, critical thinking situations, quality assurance testing, case studies, research papers/reports, and scientific exhibits.
