Core courses for all programs (21 Credit Hours): * COMM-640: Principles of Strategic Communication * COMM-642: Public Communication Management * COMM-644: Public Communication Writing * COMM-646: Public Communication Practicum * COMM-735: Public Communication Theory * COMM-738: Research Methods in Communication * COMM-744: Public Communication Seminar Electives (Nine Credit Hours): Full-time and part-time students select three elective courses that relate to their area of specialization from graduate offerings in the School of Communication or other University departments. In the weekend program, the following three courses currently replace electives: * COMM-531: Political Communication * COMM-623: Computer Techniques for Communication Professionals * COMM-696: Special Topics: Social Marketing At AU, your classes provide you with hand-on experiences and opportunities to learn from the pros. Frequent speakers, seminars, workshops on-campus and visits to research firms, political communication firms, and nationally recognized public relations organizations help you to fully prepare for your future. Your professors not only share their own professional expertise; they invite top communication experts to participate in class activities. The program features projects that put you to work for real-world clients, producing media plans, communication strategies, press kits, Web sites and other tools. Class "clients" have included small community groups as well as large, nationally recognized institutions such as the John F.
