Students will learn how to meet the psychosocial, physical and cultural needs of the older adult through a diverse activity program. Students will learn program planning, physical and social aspects of aging, regulatory requirements, documentation guidelines and administrative techniques. Classroom instruction will include presentations from a variety of experts in the activity and aging field. After successfully completing the activity professional training the student is qualified according to federal OBRA regulations to be an activity director employed in a nursing home as this course is the only state approved training course in Colorado.
