Design Communications Illustration from Belmont University is a Campus Bachelor Illustration degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. Design Communications option of the BFA program is structured to prepare students for careers in the graphic design industry, employment opportunities in design related fields, or graduate school. Design Communications majors work closely with their advisors and faculty in the department. Most graduate MFA programs and employment opportunities in the field require that students have a sound undergraduate BFA degree with an exceptional portfolio of design work. It is the aim of Belmont's BFA program to help students achieve their greatest potential by helping them to develop an exceptional portfolio of work. As in all BFA programs, students are required to take the core foundation of studio classes. The core design program builds upon a foundation of basic design concepts in Design Communications I and is sequential in nature gaining complexity and scope in Design Communications VI. Emphasis is also placed on Typography and Design History and Philosophy where students learn about the technical and historical context of design and its relationship to culture. Emphasis tracks are provided so that students may customize their Design communications option. You may select a path in Illustration . Students are exposed to the fundamentals of basic software applications in Introduction to Digital Imaging and Priciples of Web Page Design. Internships are required during junior or senior year.
