The curriculum of the social-science program, leading to a B.A. degree , stresses integrative content and the practicality of knowledge by offering courses accenting structural concepts, generalizations, intellectual skills, methods and procedures, and models appropriate for its component disciplines. Emphasis is placed on process and method because these skills have practical, long-range value. Further, the program aims to promote the discovery and internalization of an objective understanding of the individual and society, the knowledge of which can be transferred to real-life problemsolving and more effective participation in social relations. The broad-field social-science (BFSS) curriculum consists of 57 credit hours, of which up to 15 hours may be counted in general education, to be taken in a variety of courses that project multiculturalism and a global perspective. Students are required to obtain general competency in the fields of behavioral science (psychology and sociology), economics, history and political science.
