Nursing from Blackhawk Technical College is a Campus Associate Registered Nurse degree that prepares you for a Nursing career. The Associate Degree Nursing program prepares nurses to function with the knowledge, skill and judgment of beginning staff nurses in a variety of health care settings. The program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). The Associate Degree Nursing program consists of a minimum of four semesters. Completion of the program may take longer depending upon the number of students petitioning to enter clinical nursing classes. Nursing courses include classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences in a variety of settings. A grade of ?C-? or higher must be received in all program required courses. Graduates are eligible to apply to the Wisconsin Board of Nursing to take the examination for licensure as a Registered Nurse. State Administrative Code rules state that a graduate may have difficulty obtaining a license with an arrest or conviction record that is substantially related to nursing practice. The Coordinator of the program is available to discuss concerns in this area. Students may apply for testing for licensure as a L.P.N. Licensed Practical Nurse) after successfully completing all courses through the second semester. L.P.N.'s entering into the ADN program may receive credit for past clinical education based on their current knowledge, skills and judgment. In order to help L.P.N.'s be program ready, they will need to take the Nursing Bridge course before entering third semester.
