The Generic Studies program is the CORE liberal arts and science base of all degree programs offered by the College. Therefore, a student who has declared in writing his or her major area of study in any of the College's bachelors degree program offerings, may be considered to be in progress towards that chosen degree . An Associate in Arts degree may also be awarded upon completion of the CORE program. Objectives The CORE Curriculum consists of 60 credits of academic work with the following objectives: * to develop mastery of intellectual, affective and behavioral competencies required for independent learning and growth. * to develop the capacity for independent learning. * to develop a solid foundation in college level English, Spanish, mathematics, the physical and social sciences , history, perceptual and physical development and the arts . * to develop a "whole" person with a healthy balance of intellectual, affective and physical coordination necessary for well rounded professional practice. * to prepare students for academic achievement on the upper level baccalaureate studies.
