Choral Music Associate from Brevard Community College - Cocoa FL details

Program Format: Campus Program Level: Associate

Choral Music from Brevard Community College - Cocoa FL is a Campus Associate Music degree that prepares you for a Vocational Programs career. To receive an Associate of Arts (AA) the student must complete a minimum of 60 semester hours of college-level credit with 36 hours of general education. For those students who are planning to major in some aspect of music (i.e., performance, education, therapy, theatre, theory and composition, technology, business, church, etc.) the first two years of study will reflect the basic foundations for all of the disciplines in music. Each main semester (fall and spring) a music major should be enrolled in a minimum of 8 or 9 credits of music classes. For the voice major the credits will be 8. These will constitute the elective credits toward an AA. Therefore, students who are planning to transfer to a university with a music emphasis will need to take a minimum of 68-72 semester hours. Six of the general education credits must be in the Humanities. The music major is strongly encouraged to take MUL 2010 - Survey of Music Literature - as an option for three of the six Humanities credits. Since there are additional ensemble offerings in music, the majority of students pursuing a parallel program in music will quite often take 2 1/2 or 3 full years to complete their AA. This is not unusual in that it takes, on average, 5 years to complete a BA in Music at a university or college. View more details on Brevard Community College .
