Correction Officer Training: Utah law requires all potential peace officers to receive basic training before they can be certified and function with any authority in the State of Utah. The BATC Police Academy provides basic training required for employment. This program begins in January. The training to be delivered provides an excellent foot-in-the-door approach to a law enforcement career. This training is transferable to other instate police officer training institutions. Areas of study include legal subjects, patrol and criminal investigation procedures, arrest control techniques, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)/First Aid. An individual completing the program will increase his/her ability as a police reserve, corrections , Wild Life Conservation, or a correctional officer in any county jail or state prison facility. The individual will also become certifiable and receive two BATC Campus Certificates of Proficiency; one in Special Function and one in Corrections. During training students are required to wear a police academy approved uniform and a physical fitness uniform; purchase of uniforms is in addition to tuition. The uniforms can be purchased at the BATC Bookstore. You will also be required to purchase a course manual, also available at the BATC Bookstore.
