That's Buckeye's CAD program: a comprehensive course of study that not only grounds students with the fundamentals of drafting , it also prepares them to handle more complicated challenges related to engineering problems, architectural design, 3d animation, and visual effects. Class size is limited to 21. Students use Pentium Extreme and Core2 Extreme PCs to run computer drafting and design programs, including AutoDesk Inventor 11, AutoCAD 2007, Adobe Photoshop 7, Chief Architect 10, and discreet 3ds max 8, to create projects that range from machine parts development to animated house walk-throughs and design visualizations in 3d. Students can print draft copies of their work to a B-size HP LaserJet 5100 or a Xerox Phaser 7400/DN and final copies to a D-size HP DesignJet 800ps inkjet plotter. All lab computers are configured for use as a 3ds max render farm that is driven by the lab's own render server. Students can compile finished animations and burn them to DVDs.
