In serving suburban, rural and urban populations, the program is committed to the alleviation of social and economic poverty, oppression and discrimination. Program goals are: 1. To prepare students for entry-level generalist social work practice, including interventions with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities, with a commitment to practice focused on serving the poor and oppressed and dedicated to alleviating poverty, oppression and discrimination. 2. To prepare students with a firm grounding in and appreciation for integration of liberal arts, the sciences and the profession. 3. To prepare students to enhance problem solving, coping, developmental capacity, well-being, social functioning, and the realization of human potential. 4. To prepare students to master production and appreciation of research, and to evaluate the extent to which goals of social work intervention plans are achieved. 5.
