Admission to Graduate Standing: Conditionally Classified University requirements include a baccalaureate from an accredited institution and a grade-point average of at least 2.5 in the last 60 semester units attempted. Graduate Standing: Classified A student who meets the requirements for conditionally classified graduate standing, as well as the following requirements, may be granted classified graduate standing upon the development of an approved study plan: a major in German consisting of 30 units (or equivalent) of upper-division studies with above-average scholarship. (A candidate presenting a B.A. which has fewer than 30 upper-division units in the language , or whose background is otherwise inadequate, normally will be required to take additional courses to build a full undergraduate major before beginning the graduate program.) The student must also demonstrate proficiency in English, either by passing the English Writing Proficiency exam or equivalent exam or by passing Modern Language 301 or equivalent with a grade of ?C?
