Respiratory care is involved in the diagnosis, deterrence, and management of circumstances of disease and conditions that affect the pulmonary and cardiovascular system. Respiratory care practitioners are a valued part of the medical team assisting physicians to plan, provide,and evaluate direct patient care to persons with cardiovascular or pulmonary disease. Upon successful graduation from the advanced respiratory care program, the student will be eligible to sit for the following credentialing exams offered by the National Board of Respiratory Care ,NBRC: National Certification Exam and the National Registry. Upon satisfactory completion, students can obtain the Registered Respiratory Therapist credential. This program is a two-year advanced-level therapist program and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education programs (CAAHEP) as well as the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (COARC). Respiratory Care practitioners are employed in various areas including but not limited to: Hospital-adult,pediatric, neonatal, critical care, general floor therapy ,emergency, specialty clinics: Sub-acute facilities Sleep diagnostics Medical equipment sales Pharmaceutical sales Research Pulmonary diagnostic lab Long-term facilities Consultation.
