The offerings in the music department are not limited to music majors. Students in other programs are encouraged to participate in music department courses and performing ensembles. The music department offers degree for music majors: Associate of Fine Arts in Instrumental Performance Casper College is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music . Music majors must fulfill the following requirements: 1. Declare a major instrument; 2. Enroll in two or four credit hours of music studio in the major instrument each semester as long as they remain a music major at Casper College (see curricula for requirements); 3. Perform in at least one major ensemble (usually concert band,concert chorale or chamber orchestra) each semester as long as they remain a music major at Casper College; 4. Pass the Piano Proficiency Examination. All music majors should enroll in keyboard classes. Keyboard IV culminates with the Proficiency Exam. Students with a background in keyboard will be placed at the appropriate level as determined by the piano faculty; 5. Successfully complete a jury examination on their major instrument at the end of each semester. The jury will be composed of music faculty; 6. Successfully complete four semesters of Convocation (MUSC 0200). All students electing to participate in any music ensemble course should contact the appropriate member of the music faculty for proper placement before enrolling.
