Funeral Service Education from Catawba Valley Community College is a Campus Associate Teaching degree that prepares you for a Education career. The Funeral Service Education Program curriculum provides students with he opportunity to become proficient in basic funeral service skills. In addition to general education courses, technical courses, such as human anatomy, embalming theory and practice, embalming chemistry, restorative arts, funeral law, and funeral home operations are taught. Students in the Funeral Service Education program are required to take the National Board Exam for Funeral Service as a condition of graduation. After passing the state or national exam and completing an internship in a funeral home, graduates will be qualified for employment as embalmers and/or funeral directors. Funeral Service Education is an associate degree program offered at CVCC by Fayetteville Technical Community College. General education courses are offered by CVCC. Funeral Service Education courses are provided by FTCC via live interactive video feed to an N.C. Information Highway classroom on CVCC's campus.
