The mission of the Visual Arts major is to develop individuals who are capable of working as visual communicators and/or artists in a complex, rapidly changing global culture. To accomplish this mission, the major must: provide students with marketable skills; empower students to not only work with technical applications, but also integrate those skills with critical theories in a creative manner; prepare students to assume creative, scholarly and leadership roles in the media arts field; and promote an understanding of the media arts and the role the arts play in a variety of aspects of contemporary life. Within the Visual Arts Degree , students may choose a concentration of Photography .
