Medical Assisting from City College Branch Campus is a Campus Associate Health Aide degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. The Medical Assisting major provides students with the opportunity to develop clinical , laboratory, and the clerical skills required to be successful in employment in a health care facility. Students receive extensive core didactic medical science courses and clinical training giving them the required knowledge to successfully pass their certification exam. Students will also have the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge to actual work experiences while on a 150 hour externship at a College approved site. Externship sites include various Physicians' practices such as Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Cardiology and Health Clinics. As a proctor site for NCCT, National Center for Competency Testing, City College graduates in Allied Health in Medical Assisting will qualify to sit for the National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) examination and the Phlebotomy certification.
