City University of Seattle's regionally accredited B.A.Ed. with Teacher Certification program is designed for individuals who have some college credits and wish to pursue a rewarding career in teaching. CityU of Seattle has one of the few programs that allows you the option of earning an Elementary K-8 Endorsement, a Special Education K-12 Endorsement or BOTH while you earn your bachelors degree . If you want to teach and are a transfer student from a community college, a para-educator without a teaching certificate or someone who has college credits and is ready to become a teacher, this eight quarter program could be a great fit. The Elementary (K-8) program will provide you with the knowledge and tools needed to teach core curriculum to a diverse population of elementary and middle school children. Subjects covered include: Math, Science, Reading and Literacy, Social Studies and Health. The Special Education (K-12) program combines traditional education training with a focus on classes that prepare you to assist children with special needs. If you take the Dual endorsement program, you will prepare for the maximum flexibility of teaching elementary and/or special education students. Both programs provide classroom learning, internships and student teaching. Become a teacher! Upon completion of this program and any state required exams, you will be prepared to teach students grade K-8 and/or special education students grades K-12 in Washington State public or private schools. You may also be able to teach in other states that honor the Washington residency certificate. Additional opportunities include short-or long-term substitute teaching and eligibility to pursue additional endorsements, or graduate level degrees. Our full-time program is designed to be flexible, so you can study without sacrificing your career. Typically, you'll meet for class just two evenings a week, plus Saturdays. With CityU, you can earn your B.A.Ed. and your teaching certificate simultaneously (many other schools require the B.A. first and then another year for the certificate). To thoroughly prepare you for teaching students in your own classroom, our program combines both classroom and field-based experiences, plus we utilize a hands-on, cohort model of learning (you progress through the program with a group). Our experienced instructors teach in class what they do for a living, which ensures you receive instruction that is relevant and applicable in the real world-where it matters most. Lastly, we train hundreds of teachers each year and have one of the highest job placement rates in Washington. View more details on City University of Seattle .
