Through an individually designed program, graduate students take courses not only offered in the School of Educational Studies (SES), but they also are encouraged to enroll in classes from the other outstanding schools and centers at CGU, such as the School of Behavioral and Organizational Sciences (SBOS), and the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management. During the program, the students work with dedicated faculty members who reflect a wide range of professional expertise and knowledge about effective educational practices. These professors serve as advisors to assist individual students achieve excellence. They help students develop programs that capitalize on the many resources available across the iniversity. Special education doctoral students have opportunities to work with distinguished scholars both at CGU and across the nation. Recognized policymakers and researchers comprise a national faculty who enrich learning opportunities and instruct CGU graduate Students through an unique "experts at a distance seminars" approach. Most students transfer in 24 units from M.A. to Ph.D. An additional minimum of 48 units of CGU doctoral coursework is required beyond the M.A. to total 72 coursework units in the Ph.D. Qual exams, competency attainment, and dissertation is NOT included in these 48 units. Two courses are required for all students in these 48 units (SDSU students are exempt): a Professional Seminar class and a Transdisciplinary Course.
