Career options are many for psychology majors, including Human Services, Administration, Community Relations, Program Development, Research, Human Resources, Public Relations, Advertising, Market Research, Teaching, Retailing, Sales and more. A BA in Psychology is offered in Psychology . Clarion students are involved with research. In one year, for example, students can attend American Psychological Association, Eastern Psychological Association, Cognitive Aging, and the Annual Conference for the Advancement of College Teaching and Learning. Students are encourage to get applied experience in the field. Many students train through our local domestic violence and rape crisis centers and are also placed in semester-long internships at a variety of sites including the local psychiatric hospital, a partial hospitalization program and an in-home family therapy agency. Students work with juvenile probation, CUP Admissions, SAFE, PASSAGES and Children & Youth Services Active student organizations include the Psychology Club and Psi Chi (the national honorary in Psychology). The groups provide an excellent opportunity to learn more about the filed and become more involved with the department. Three scholarships (Eric S. Knotick Memorial Scholarship, Iseli K. Krauss Scholarship and the Psychology Endowed Scholarship) and a research award are offered annually. Graduates are very successful getting jobs and going to graduate school.
