Public Relations from Clarion University of Pennsylvania is a Campus Bachelor Public Relations degree that prepares you for a Communications career. The Department of MMAJCS offers a broad-based bachelor of science degree that provides students with a solid foundation and allows for the selection of concentration:public relations . The 27-credit core requires foundational courses along with upper division courses in research, law and analysis. The concentrations offers students the chance to gain skills and knowledge specific to their career choice, working closely with faculty whose expertise and experience can prepare them for these professions. The faculty devote themselves to teaching and working with students, but also conduct research and maintain connections with their professions. Students and faculty work in modern and well-appointed facilities, including a modern television station, a 24/7 radio station, a digital post production lab, a print design studio and a writing lab. A remote truck is also equipped to allow television broadcasts from remote sites. A weekly newspaper, two magazines and the other media outlets provide students with opportunity to gain experience in a supervised setting. Students also participate in a wide range of professional activities through organizations that have connections to the professions. A nationally-ranked debate team is the only one in the PASSHE to have earned a slot at the National Debate Tournament. Other organizations include the Public Relations Students Society of America, the Society for Collegiate Journalists, the National Broadcasting Association, and the National Communication Organization Student Club. Many students complete their academic careers by taking an internship; our students have been placed in such prestigious sites as ESPN, the Black Entertainment Network, the Andy Warhol Museum, a wide range of radio and television stations, Ketchum Advertising, large public relations firms, CNN, and City magazine in NYC.
