Computer Aided Design & Drafting from Clark College is a Campus Certificate Architectural Engineering degree that prepares you for a Engineering career. The Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Certificate of Proficiency program prepares the student for entry level work as a CADD designer/drafter. Almost every company that is involved with design and/or manufacturing has one or more design/drafting positions, and the majority of those companies use CADD as their primary design and drafting tool. After gaining experience, many people are successful in setting up their own contract design/ drafting business. Clark College currently offers a series of courses in both AutoCAD and SolidWorks, and offers single courses in Rhinoceros and its plug-ins, MicroStation, SketchUp, and ADT (Revit starting 2008). CADD Department personnel strive to take your personal goals into account, and will work with you to customize your degree requirements if warranted. This program is a professional-technical program, and we try to provide the best real-world environment we can. Our teaching and open lab facilities boast fine equipment, and each of the CADD software we teach is up to its current educational version. The program requires a co-op, or internship, for graduation. This experience, driven by you, the student, can be vital for you in gaining successful future employment. Primary CADD Skills Taught in the Certificate of Proficiency Program: AutoCAD ADT (Revit starting 2008) AutoLISP Engineering Graphics Rhino, Flamingo, Penguin, and Bongo SolidWorks SketchUp MicroStation Rapid Prototyping Since many of the program courses are computer-based, students should be comfortable in using a computer before entering this Certificate Program. CADD Certificate of Proficiency Program Outcomes: Core CADD software skills demonstrated by your ability to create and manipulate drawings in a multitude of CADD applications. Core drafting skills demonstrated on prints of your fully annotated drawings. Beginning design skills demonstrated through some tangible output to real-world design projects. A foundational understanding of industries that use CADD, as demonstrated through reports on a variety of companies and co-op experience (or prior experience in the field). Entry level job readiness displayed in your employment portfolio. Essential elements of professionalism, including aspects of communication and team work, as demonstrated by the successful completion of a co-operative work experience, and through your conduct in all other program courses.
