Nursing Registered Nurse from Clover Park Technical College is a Campus Associate Pre-Nursing degree that prepares you for a Nursing career. Successful graduates of this program are educated in Nursing as a Registered Nurse with duties and responsibilities, under the guidelines of the National League of Nursing and American Association of Colleges of Nursing. The program is designed to meet needs of practicing LPNs who desire additional education to progress to the role of a Registered Nurse. The combination of previous experience and further education via lecture and clinical practice prepares the student to assume the role of a Registered Nurse in a variety of clinical settings. As with the current LPN program, the RN Option program will maintain full compliance with all the guidelines set forth in WAC 246-840-575. The basic curriculum will include anatomy and physiology, chemistry, microbiology, math, general psychology, development psychology, and English composition. Pharmacology, physics, and nutrition will be integrated into the core nursing curriculum. The curriculum will also include theory and clinical experiences in the areas of medical/surgical nursing, obstetric nursing, nursing of children and psychiatric nursing which will be integrated and/or combined. Clinical experiences will be determined in accordance with individual student needs to ensure that they either had, or will have, opportunities to care for persons at each stage of the human life cycle. These experiences will also include opportunities for students to learn and have direct involvement in, responsibility and accountability for nursing care in the areas of acute and chronic illnesses, promotion and maintenance of wellness. Also, clinical experiences will include opportunities for the student to demonstrate assessment of needs, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care of diverse individuals and groups. Finally, history, trends, and legal and ethical issues pertaining to the nursing profession will be presented as a separate course; however, the concepts will be incorporated throughout.
