Educational Studies from Colgate University is a Campus Bachelor Education Science degree that prepares you for a Education career. The Department of Educational Studies offers two distinct undergraduate programs: (1) a concentration in educational studies and (2) a preparation program for students intending to teach at either the elementary or secondary level. Concentration Program Courses are designed for liberal arts students interested in studying the problems and prospects of education , the nature and function of educational inquiry, the processes and outcomes of educational practices, the role of educational theory in school practice, and the relation of educational institutions to other social institutions. In these courses students are exposed to a variety of methodologies and perspectives. To concentrate in educational studies, students take nine courses in the department. Students must take EDUC 101 and eight additional courses.
