Biblical Studies from College of Biblical Studies - Houston is a Campus Associate Religious Studies degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. The 64-hour program leading to the Associate of Biblical Studies with a major in Biblical Studies degree is designed as terminal for service as lay leaders and ministerial support in the church and para-church organizations that require only foundational biblical studies . It may also be used as the first two years of a bachelor's degree program. All credits are applicable to the bachelor's degree programs offered at the College or, when appropriate, may be transferable to other institutions. Upon completion of the program, successful students will: Describe the major characters in the Bible . Detect the geographical background of the Bible. Categorize the literary forms of biblical books. Distinguish the basic content of each of the biblical books. Know foundational principles of inductive Bible interpretation. Categorize the major doctrines of the Bible. Explain the theological significance of the major doctrines of the Bible . Develop a biblical worldview. Evaluate the beliefs of differing worldviews. Demonstrate growth in one's spiritual life. Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English. Understand a variety of literary genres and arguments. Demonstrate quantitative, abstract, logical, symbolic modes of thinking and/or the exercise of logical reasoning. Understand scientific methods and scientific models of the natural world and an appreciation of issues related to science, technology and/or society. Understand historical foundations of the western world. Understand the complexity of the human condition. Demonstrate skills useful for Christian ministry.
